This is a one-year part-time course designed for students who wish to gain entry to Teacher Training College and require a H4 (60-69%) or above in Higher Level Irish in the Leaving Certificate. This course is suitable for mature students or students repeating the Leaving Certificate.

It is highly advised that students join this class in September to ensure they receive the full benefits of the programme.

This course includes:

  • Weekly 75-minute class
  • 7.5-Hour Easter Revision Course
  • 4-Hour Oral Revision Course taking place in March 2019
  • 6-Hour Crash Course taking place in May 2019
  • A special Oral class with a focus on how to answer “Why do you want to be a Primary School teacher?”

All areas of the examination are covered, with graded mock examinations throughout the year. Students will also receive free oral examinations. With the oral component now worth 40% of the marks available, all students are given a customised booklet, with answers tailored to their own situation. This is especially important for mature or repeat students, who are inevitably asked why they are going back to study the subject.

Our teacher Rónán Murdock proudly holds a 100% success rate. Since the course’s first year in 2013 every single student has obtained the Honour necessary to get into Teaching college. He is available for consultation before or after weekly grinds. Students thinking about joining are welcome to attend a free trial class at any time. To book your free trial, click here or call us in the office on 01 442 4442.

Below you can see feedback from previous students:

“I attended your Higher Level Irish grinds for the Leaving Certificate last year. I am delighted to say I passed the exams and got a B2. Furthermore, I have been accepted into Hibernia College and I am pursuing my dream of becoming a primary school teacher. I would like to say a huge thank you for all your support, encouragement and advice throughout the course which has helped me achieve this goal. I am truly thankful to both you and your colleague for the extra time you both gave me throughout the year.”
Ailish McKenna 2015/16

“I got a B in Ordinary Level Irish in my Leaving Cert in 2008. So it’s safe to say when I started with Rónán in September last year I had very little confidence in my ability. After a few months of hard work and Rónán’s encouragement and support everything turned around. I’m now in Hibernia and I have Rónán to thank for that.”
Stephen Flood 2014/15

“Thank you so much for all of your support. I got a B2 and I couldn’t be happier.”
Simon Dunne 2013/14

All students are recommended to come along and try a class free of charge. Give us a call in the office on 01-442 4442.
